The Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMLPN) is celebrating 25 years of collaboration, innovation and impact in the region’s skills and employment landscape.

Founded in 2001 as a small, informal group of training providers, GMLPN has grown into a thriving network of over 140 members, bringing together colleges, training providers, universities, employers and community organisations.

Over the past quarter-century, the network has played a key role in connecting education and industry, supporting providers, influencing policy and creating opportunities for learners across Greater Manchester.

Through flagship initiatives such as the Apprenticeship Ambassador Programme, Skills Gateway and the ASK programme, GMLPN has helped raise awareness of vocational pathways, support employers and improve access to skills development.

Its collective impact includes engaging over 137,000 young people, supporting thousands of employers and delivering programmes that strengthen both the skills system and the regional economy.

Mark Currie, Chair of GMLPN, said:
“As we look to the future, the next phase of our journey will be shaped by challenge, change and opportunity. Our collective strength will continue to be key to supporting learners, employers and communities across Greater Manchester.”

Throughout periods of significant change, including funding reform, devolution and the COVID-19 pandemic, GMLPN has remained a trusted voice for the sector, ensuring that providers are represented and supported.

As the network looks ahead, its focus remains on strengthening collaboration, supporting the next generation, and helping the skills system respond to evolving economic and technological demands.
