Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMLPN) is delighted to welcome Street League as a new member of the network. Street League is a UK-wide charity that uses the power of sport to tackle poverty and support young people into employment, education, and training opportunities.
Youth unemployment continues to be a significant challenge, particularly for young people from disadvantaged communities who often face additional barriers to accessing education and sustainable employment. Street League was established to address this issue by providing practical support, skills development, and employability programmes that help young people build brighter futures.
Supporting Young People Through Sport and Employability
Street League works with young people aged 16 to 30 across some of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities. Through a combination of sport, personal development, employability training, and dedicated mentoring, the organisation helps participants overcome barriers that may be preventing them from progressing into work, education, or training.
Recognising that traditional academic pathways are not the right fit for everyone, Street League provides an alternative approach that focuses on developing confidence, resilience, communication skills, teamwork, and workplace readiness in an engaging and supportive environment.
Creating Opportunities and Changing Lives
Street League’s programmes are designed to empower young people to take positive steps towards their future. Through tailored employability support, industry partnerships, accredited learning, and real-world work experience opportunities, participants gain the skills and confidence needed to progress into meaningful careers.
The organisation has a strong track record of helping young people move into employment, apprenticeships, education, and training, while also supporting their personal wellbeing and long-term aspirations. Their person-centred approach ensures that every individual receives the support they need to achieve their goals.
By joining GMLPN, Street League becomes part of a collaborative network of learning providers and partners committed to improving skills, employability, and social mobility across Greater Manchester. Their expertise in engaging young people furthest from the labour market will bring valuable insight and experience to the membership.
